Who runs this site

This site is run by Jacco Koppes, Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. Questions about your data? Email jacco@jacco.io.

What happens by default

Nothing. Without your consent no analytics are loaded and no cookies are set. There are no contact forms, no accounts, no advertising and no profiling.

If you accept

Google Analytics 4 loads, provided by Google Ireland Limited acting as processor. It records which page you view, your approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP address), your device and browser type, the site you arrived from and how long you stay. Google Analytics 4 does not store your IP address. Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off.

What gets stored

Two of these four are always present: they remember your own choices and never travel to a server.

Name Type Purpose Retention
jk-lang localStorage Remembers whether you read the site in English or Dutch. Until you clear your browser data
jk-consent localStorage Remembers your cookie choice so the bar does not reappear. Until you clear your browser data, re-asked after 12 months
_ga cookie Distinguishes visitors from one another in Google Analytics. 2 years
_ga_<id> cookie Keeps session state for Google Analytics. 2 years

Legal basis and withdrawal

The basis is your consent (article 6(1)(a) GDPR and article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act). You can withdraw it at any time through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you decline after having accepted, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted straight away.

Retention and transfers

Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured on the Google Analytics property, at most 14 months. Google may process data outside the EEA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Server logs

The web server records every request, including IP address, requested URL, timestamp and browser type. This happens regardless of your cookie choice and is needed to keep the site running and secure (legitimate interest, article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs rotate automatically and are not used to track visitors.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and erase your data, and to object to processing. Email jacco@jacco.io. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
